It's been a busy couple of weeks for the Squadron. Even with the nice weather we have managed to Virtually Parade every Tuesday and Thursday. Cadets have engaged in a variety of different activities. Over 25 cadets have now completed the Bronze Cyber course, a further 10 are now working on their Silver Cyber. Classifications lessons continue with many learning Navigation and Map reading. The senior cadets and NCO's have started training to gain thier Instructor Yellow Lanyard. To finish the week off we had a good training session on Aircraft Recognition provided by CI Malcolm, covering training and fighter aircraft. The competitive nature of Cadets and staff appeared when a Kahoot quiz was undertaken on their recent knowledge of Aircraft.

Busy Virtual Parade Night for the Squadron. Great mix of different activities.

A talk this evening with former RAF Harrier pilot, Flt Lt (Retd) Hanlon!

Thanks to Orpington Air Cadets for organising.

The rest of the squadron completed a Music Quiz. Where Cpl Mackie came top with a very impressive score and correct answers count.

To round the evening off, the Squadron Padre Rev Linney joined us to talk to the cadets and staff. Generating a great discussion on adversity and dealing with current life situations.

Thought we would update you all, as expected we are on Lockdown with the rest of the Nation. It's been a challenging time for the country and as the situation continues we have already engaged in a totally new concept for the squadron. We successfully completed our first full squadron Virtual Parade Evening on Thursday.

As all face to face contact is restricted, we had to devise a way to ensure the cadets could in someway continue thier experience and training. It's been a massive step not just for the cadets but the staff included. So a little bit of technology and alot of crossed fingers the squadron has competed two staff meetings virtually, 2 NCO Meetings and now a full squadron parade night. On this parade, we talked to the Cadets about Mental health for them and thier family. Then rounded it off with a nail biting quiz on Kahoot for the cadets and staff.

The logistics of getting cadets all to logon and participate has been a success. Obviously certain activities can't be held virtually, so during these period we are concentrating on the Aviation studies and other fields not excluding Radio, Naviagtion and Cyber. This will prepare us for full on action and activities when we return.

We are not alone with this, with Kent Squadrons plus though throughout the UK are having to devise new methods to give the Cadet Experience. One of the big success nationally has been for the RAFAC National Music Band showing the commitment of the Cadets and staff. They have managed to complete a number of Virtual performances. The recent ensemble from the String section is very good.

So over the coming months we will still parade, virtually every week as normal. Complete an mixture of learning, training and social activities. All waiting for the day we can formally parade all together again.

So thank you to all the Cadets and Parents who continue to support the squadron.

Also hello to the many other new followers who have liked our page.

Stay at Home.
