About Us

The Air Training Corps is a national voluntary youth organization designed to develop the qualities of young people. It is sponsored by the Royal Air Force and provides challenging aviation, adventurous and community activities.

1404 ( Chatham) air cadets offers a variety of activities for people ages 12 years (when beginning school in Year 8) and over. The squadron participates in flying and gliding, Duke of Edinburgh Award, adventure training, shooting, sports (including athletics, football, netball, rugby and swimming) as well as developing your interest in aviation studies. We currently offer 3 BTEC qualifications for doing these activities you enjoy, BTEC in Aviation Studies, BTEC in Public Service, and BTEC in Music.

The maximum age for entry as a cadet is 17 years old, therefore you can request to join us anytime between your 12th (see above) and 17th birthday. If you are above that age group and still want to enjoy all of our activities and more, you could join as a volunteer.

Adults interested in helping the squadron can do so by joining the adult staff or the civilian committee.

Want to join contact us on 1404@rafac.mod.gov.uk  or call 01634 812052 on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.
